5-year-old Autistic boy wanders off from teachers and classmates in Suffolk County,VA
A 5-year-old Autistic boy wandered from his teachers and classmates early Tuesday afternoon on March 29. Suffolk Fire and Rescue received a call at 1:01 p.m. along with Suffolk Project Lifesaver, and Suffolk Police Air Unit. Agencies notified Virginia Beach Project Lifesaver, where the boy is registered and kept them informed he was missing. The boy attends school in Suffolk County. The teacher was searching and got lost trying to find the boy; luckily she had her cell phone and called a fellow colleague informing them she was lost. The teacher reached the boy at the same time rescuer’s tracked the signal at a park behind a local super market. It was evident he had been in the water, because he was about 5 feet from the water. Rescue teams inspected and changed his transmitter, then transported him to a nearby hospital for an evaluation of hypothermia, since he was soaked. He was cleared to go and his mother picked him up.
